Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) Chairman Alexander Stubb on Saturday urged the party leaders and activities to uphold the party’s ideology and team spirit.

Speaking at a party meeting in Helsinki, he stressed loyalty and trust and appealed to the party people to exercise fair play in the politics.

Stubb, also the finance minister of the country, warned against isolation in the organisation centring the upcoming elections of party leadership.

“We do not bark at our opponents or at each other. Kokoomus is to be the party that moves to a common plan, supports and encourages each other, keeps faith in difficult moments, and outdoes ourselves,” Stubb said.

After his speech, Stubb also urged the news media to play fair role to avoid confusion regarding the ongoing happenings in the party.

“When it comes to playing for the second goal, if we’re criticising each other during the game, causing confusion or chaos, then our team is not working well. The ultimate responsibility lies with the chairman to get the team into good shape,” said the former prime minister.

In his speech, Stubb also spoke in favour of NATO membership application as per the previous position of Kokoomus.

“If the question was asked, would a Kokoomus-led government take Finalnd to Nato, the answer is yes,” he added.
