President Sauli Niinistö has awarded life-saving medals to thirteen people.
Recipients of the award included people who acted to prevent murder as well as rescuing people from fire and from a burning car. There were also children among the recipients.
The medal is given in recognition of a very courageous, resourceful or life-threatening act which resulted in the saving of someone's life.
