The Ministry of Justice is considering integrating the tasks of the non-discrimination ombudsman and the ombudsman for equality.
According to the ministry, the public would benefit, if they could seek help on all grounds of discrimination from one office.
In addition, reaching out to citizens and the promotion of gender equality would be made easier, the ministry argues.
The amendment will not interfere, according to the ministry, with the authorities currently operating nor their resources. However, after the merger, the office would have only one delegate, which would respond to equality and gender issues. The delegate would have the ability to authorise deputies.
The proposal has been recorded into an assessment memorandum and is now awaiting comments.
