The refugee reception centres will be reducing their accommodation places by just under 6,000, said the Finnish Immigration Service.
The reduction in the number of asylum seekers has been attributed for the cut in the number of accommodation places and the abolition of centres.
A total of 44 reception centres would be abolished. Among them, 23 are for adults and families, and 21 are for minors seeking asylum. The operation closing the centres will cease by the end of November.
The Finnish Immigration Service announced in February and March a total reduction of just over 10,000 accommodation places in reception centres. The announced closures and reduction will take place mainly from May to September.
After the reductions, there will still be a total of 15,800 accommodation places.
