The Ministry of Transport and Communications has allocated EUR 4.5 million in aid for costs related to sulphur scrubbers and the modification of fuel systems on ships.
The aid was granted to Finnlines Oy, Viking Line Abp and NLC Ferry Ab Oy (Wasaline), said an official press release on Thursday.
In the third round of applications, applications were received from four shipping companies concerning ten vessels. The total amount applied for was EUR 14.5 million.
The amount of subsidies allocated for the purpose was EUR 4.5 million, as the aid was also sought to cover costs not considered eligible for the aid in question, the press release added.
