The Finnish Customs is closing down customs offices in Loviisa, Keski-Vantaa, Kouvola and Lappeenranta at the turn of the year.

In a release, the Customs said the decision to close down the offices is based on the review of the need for customer service in the specific offices involved.

According to the customs, customer service needs have reduced significantly through the computerisation of services.

All workers in the offices to close down have been offered jobs in their own work commuting areas.

The workers of the closing down offices will be transferred to Imatra, Kotka, Nuijamaa and Vaalimaa.

The review of operations of 14 other Customs offices including offices in Jyväskylä, Lahti, Oulu and Tampere is ongoing.
