The first weeks of introduction of car scrapping scheme has been reflected positively in car dealers’ everyday operations, found news agency STT.
Owners of old cars will get Euro 1,500 discount upon the purchase of a new car after sending an old, end-of-life vehicle to the scrap.
The campaign started at the beginning of July and will continue until the end of the year.
The car industry believes the scrapping scheme would lead to the purchase of about 3,000 to 5,000 new cars.
The car scrapping scheme has stimulated trade, confirmed Olli Arnivaara, sales director at the Turku-based car dealers Rinta-Joupin Autoliike.
The first official figures on the certified scrapped cars in car shops will be obtained in mid-August.
