Wed, 22 Jul, 2015 12:07:18 AM FTimes Report, July 22 ![]() File Photo – Lehtikuva. The unemployment rate stood at 10 per cent in June 2015, having been 9.2 per cent in the year before, according to Statistics Finland’s Labour Force Survey.
There were 280,000 unemployed persons in the month. The number of unemployed persons was 22,000 higher than one year ago, the data show.
There were 35,000 fewer employed than in June of the previous year. The unemployment rate in the second quarter (April to June) was 10.7 per cent, which was 1.1 percentage points higher than in the respective quarter of 2014.
In June 2015, the number of employed persons was 2,526,000, which was 35,000 lower than a year earlier.
There were 22,000 fewer employed men and 13,000 fewer employed women than in June 2014 as per the statistics.
In June, the employment rate, that is, the proportion of the employed among persons aged 15 to 64, stood at 71 per cent, which was 0.7 percentage points lower than one year before.

Adjusted for seasonal and random variation, the trend of the employment rate was 67.7 per cent.
At the end of June 2015, there were altogether 369,000 persons registered in accordance with the Employment Office Regulations as unemployed job seekers at the employment and economic development offices.
The number of unemployed job seekers was 32,000 higher than in June 2014.
The number of unemployed job seekers increased in June from the corresponding period in 2014 in the areas of all Employment and Economic Development Centres: most in Uusimaa (14%), North Savo (12%), North Karelia (11%), South Ostrobothnia (10%), and Ostrobothnia (10%).
At the end of June, the number of temporarily laid off persons registered with the employment and economic development offices was 23,000, which was 1,000 more than 12 months earlier.
The number of persons engaged in services included in the activation rate totalled 109,000 at the end of June, which was 4,000 fewer than in June of the year before.
Altogether, 3.9 per cent of the labour force was covered by labour market policy services.
There were 56,000 unemployed job seekers aged under 25 registered with the employment and economic development offices. Their number was 6,000 higher than in last year's June as per the data.
During this June, 34,000 new vacancies were reported to the employment and economic development offices, which was 2,000 more than in June 2014.
