Commercial director for payment card services Nets Sami Toivonen said UnionPay has been introduced by shops at places frequented by Chinese tourists.
Toivonen estimates that there are already about 200 stores where the number of Chinese customers is so significant that the card is important.
The deployment is hindered by the fact that part of the payment terminals must be updated before they can read UnionPay cards, Toivonen said.
The tourism promoting agency Visit Finland estimates that the expansion of the use of UnionPay card for Chinese tourists will increase the amount of money spent in Finland.
Last year, Chinese tourists brought 132 million euros to Finland.
