The Service Sector Employers’ Association (Palta) and the Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors-JHLon on Tuesday announced a new competitive agreement in the railway sector under which all working hours will be extended by 24 hours.
The normal working time will be stretched by, among other things, extending the working hours of three public holidays and raising the average working hours.
“In particular, the extension of the three public holidays by eight hours supports the needs of the rail industry. Traffic peaks around the holidays,” said Palta leading expert Janne Laitinen.
According to Palta, the extension of the working hours can also be agreed upon locally and otherwise expanded with opportunities for local bargaining.
The agreement affects approximately 4,000 employees.
