The Finnish missions abroad processed a total of 1,376,425 visa applications during the year 2012, which was 10 percent higher compared to the previous year.

 

The number of visa application in last year was all-time high, said a press release issued by the foreign ministry on Thursday, adding that the number  has been doubled compared to the number of five years back.

 

The Finnish Authority, however, rejected a total of 14,196 visa applications during the stipulated time.

 

 

In the year 2007, the number of applications processed by the Finnish authority was 644,800.

 

Almost 95 percent of all visa applications were processed by Finland's four diplomatic missions in Russia.

 

Other Finnish missions that received more than 5,000 visa applications in 2012 were the embassies in Kiev (14,752), the Consulate General in Shanghai (7,500) and the embassies in Bangkok (7,454), Beijing (7,128) and New Delhi (6,112).
