The government is taking preparations to enact a law for building construction ensuring security and safety of lives and properties in the dwelling house. The government took the decision regarding housing security just one week after the Horse Riding school collapsed at Luga area in Jyväskyla where one child was killed and four others were wounded. Housing Minister, Krista Kiuru said that the new law would be enacted for controlling the house building hazard and the ministry of the environment will move immediately in this regard. Kiuru was speaking at a meeting on Wednesday jointly organized by the construction experts and the builders authorities. The meeting held to discuss the policy issues in this regard and the way of implementation for achieving success. The minister, however, said that the specific date for when the law come into force could not be told at this moment as it takes time to give complete all the formalities and legal procedures. She believed that the ministry of environment will make schedule for managing everything and estimate the time for enactment of the new law. The minister, in another statement said that the buildings would be checked in a regular basis to inspect that whether the owners of the building are in consistent with the law that has been laid down in the legislation. She also added that the building owners have to pay the attention to check security measures during the construction to ensure safety for lives and property so that people would not experience such undue surprise.
