The House took the decision after reviewing an Audit Committee report in which the committee chairman, Tuija Brax, pointed out that approximately 600,000 to 800,000 out of the 5.4 million Finnish people are exposed daily to indoor contaminants and impurities caused by moulds.
The committee estimated the repairs required to overcome the problem would cost about EUR 30 to 50 billion.
Indoor contaminants and moisture damages caused by moulding at places of residence, work or study may cause illness.
These problems found in kindergartens, schools and hospitals in the municipalities were focused in the report.
