The Minister of the Interior, Päivi Räsänen on Friday asked the police department and the National Police Board for further clarification pertaining to the Auer case.
Räsänen was speaking during an interview with national broadcaster YLE Pressklubi programme.
According to Räsänen, the Court of Appeal verdict showed that the pre-trial investigation was inconclusive. It was affected partly because the process was complicated and long, added the Minister.
The Minister said she will be asking the police department and the police board to investigate whether there was any aspect which needed attention.
At the same time, the Minister emphasised that the case was old, and also added that some changes have occurred within the police organisation since.
Meanwhile, the National Police Commissioner, Mikko Paatero told news agency STT that the initial investigating phase of the Ulvila murder could have been done better.
According to Paatero, Satakunta police did not have adequate resources to conduct the Ulvila murder investigation.
Paatero was the Western Finland police boss during the time of Ulvila murder.
Anneli Auer on Thursday was acquitted of murder charges of killing her husband by Vaasa Court of Appeal.
