Fri, 27 Feb, 2015 01:54:54 AM FTimes-STT Report, Feb 27 ![]() The Chancellor of Justice Jaakko Jonkka. File Photo Lehtikuva. The Chancellor of Justice Jaakko Jonkka has expressed concern over the ability of Regional State Administrative Agencies to cope with statutory tasks in child protection.
The Chancellor of Justice also requested the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Ministry of Finance to inform how the previously submitted proposal on means to improve the child protection situation have worked in practice.
If the measures have been proved to be insufficient, the ministries, according to Jonkka must take measures to allocate additional resources to the Regional State Administrative Agencies.
According to a study conducted by the Office of the Chancellor of Justice, the resources at the Regional State Administrative Agencies are so scarce that even small changes would have in practice an instant affect on the child protection work.
Similarly, it would also not be possible to carry out preventive work as a result of changes.
