The assessment of the Federation of Finnish Financial Services is that the information of Finnish debit card users is not at risk of intrusion.
Earlier, an online newspaper, The Intercept, in a report on Friday said American and British spies hacked into the internal computer network of Gemalto, the world’s largest SIM card manufacturer, and stolen encryption keys used to protect the privacy of cell-phone communications across the globe.
Mika Linna, a leading expert from the Federation of Finnish Financial Services, believes that even though Gemalto manufactures SIM cards and debit cards, it is unlikely they use completely identical encryption keys or technical solutions for both.
The Cyber Security Centre in Finland investigating the information breach thinks along the same line.
