The Ministry of the Interior said the police used the covert means of acquiring information, especially for interception and monitoring, less in 2014 compared to the previous year.
In 2014 drug-related crimes continued to be the common reason for initiating interception and monitoring of communication.
Similarly, in 2014 fewer decisions related to undercover operations and fictitious purchase were made.
Previous covert operation decisions were however continued.
The number of personnel subjected to communication monitoring last year was 1,322, while in 2013 it was 1,503.
In total, 1,669 communication interception and monitoring allocations were made in 2014.
