Nearly a quarter of Finns align themselves more or less to the left while a third towards the right wing.
 
Also, about a quarter of Finns consider themselves as centrists, revealed a survey commissioned by the Foundation for Municipal Development.
 
According to the survey, supporters of major political parties such as Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) leaned towards the right wing, while Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) and Perussuomalaiset supporters were inclined towards the centre-right.
 
The Social Democratic Party of Finland (Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue), Vihreä Liitto (Green League) and Vasemmistoliitto (Left Alliance) leaned towards the left wing.
 
The survey revealed that 58 per cent of Green party supporters lean more or less towards the left, whereas 33 per cent of Finn Party supporters position themselves on the right wing and 38 per cent on the centre.
 
The survey examined political positioning of political party supporters on a five-point scale. The survey conducted by TNS Gallup interviewed over a thousand people.
 
The margin of error was +/-3.
