The refugee center in Tornio, now operating for a month, has so far registered 8,435 asylum seekers.
Of these, slightly more than 2500 arrived in family group and about 400 of them are children.
All refugees who cross the border at Tornio are brought to the refugee center. Applicants registered in the facility are then transferred to refugee centres elsewhere in the country.
Four busloads of refugees embarked toward other reception centres on Thursday.
The Interior Ministry said that the police training academy will continue supporting the reception centre's activities. In addition, the Defence Forces will continue to support the police.
Customs has also enacted strict customs controls and border protections amid the increased flow of refugees.
