Finnish and Russian diving teams recently organised a memorial service for the Soviet era sank submarine discovered last summer.
The submarine sank off the coast of Hanko in November 1941 when the vessel’s bow was hit by a German mine.
The Russian media reported widely on the memorial service.
The divers attached a commemorative plaque on the wreck inscribed with the name of each member of the 39-man crew.
The memorial service also saw the laying of a wreath on the sea blessed by Orthodox priests.
At the same time, another Soviet era submarine which sank in October 1942 was blessed. A commemorative plaque on the vessel is expected to be attached on the wreck on a later date.
