More than a thousand people were evacuated from the gymnastics competition in Vantaa on Sunday due to a fire.
A fire broke out at the Lumo multipurpose centre during the team gymnastics championship games for girls aged 10-16.
No one was injured in the fire. The people in the building were moved to the Korso church for safety. The majority of them were children and adolescents involved in the gymnastics competitions.
The fire broke out in a kitchen corner among the cubicle farm.
The smoke spread throughout the building, but the fire did not move beyond the cubicles. The competition was suspended due to the fire.
