Helsinki police announced on Monday that they had uncovered an expansive cocaine import and distribution entity.

According to the preliminary investigation, several batches of cocaine were smuggled into Finland and distributed especially in the Helsinki metropolitan area.

According to police, a total of approximately 1 kilogram of cocaine was brought into Finland, 400 grams of which were seized during the pre-trial investigation.

The drug was hidden inside smugglers aboard flights to Finland.

According to police, the investigation has uncovered two separate branches for smuggling cocaine.

Detective chief inspector Jari Nikonen said that most of the drugs came from France, and part came from Spain.

There are about 15 suspects, of which 11 have already been arrested. Most of them are foreigners from, among other places, African countries. All are suspected of felony drug offenses.
