The District Court of Southwest Finland has relieved a lay judge of the court from his duties following some comments he had posted on the internet, reported a Finnish language daily, Turun Sanomat.
According to the report, the judge made lewd, pejorative and abusive remarks on the internet.
According to the court, the remarks were inappropriate in respect to his position and duty, even though they were not made while he was on duty.
The court said in exercising freedom of expression, the judge must also take into account the significance of his conduct on public experience of the court.
