The Defence Ministry on Friday finalized a deal to purchase artillery from Republic of South Korea.
The acquisition is intended to replace aging equipment for the period 2020-2030, said the Minis-try of Defence.
The ministry, however, did not reveal the quantity of the artillery and the cost of the transaction.
Government councellor of the Ministry Jouko Tuloisela said the Defence Forces are in an exten-sive process of renewing the existing equipment.
According to the ministry, the negotiations concerns used K-9 Thunder, a self-propelled howitz-er.
The South Korean developed howitzer has a shooting range of over 40 kilometres.
