Fri, 05 Aug, 2016 01:41:19 AM FTimes - STT Report, Aug 5  File Photo – Lehtikuva. One man was killed and another seriously injured when an outboard motor-propelled boat hit a pole in the Pielisjoki River by the side of the road at downtown Joensuu.
The boat was left to drift with the engine still running. The boat circled the river when the rescue department arrived.
In the end, the boat hit the channel’s barrier and capsized leaving one person dead and the other one injured.
Both men were brought to the shore. They both wore life jackets.
According to the police, the boat was driven at a very high speed before the accident.
The incident is being investigated as aggravated endangerment of traffic and manslaughter.
The police were still not able to assess the cause of the accident or the cause of the death.
