The number of new motor vehicles registered in January reached 17,874, of which 13,952 were automobiles, according to the Statistics Finland.
 
The Statistics Finland showed that first registrations have increased by 15.7 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.

In January, the number of new passenger cars registered was 12,696, reaching 23.8 per cent more from the year before. The share of new diesel-driven passenger cars was 39.2 per cent. 
 
These data are based on the Vehicular and Driver Data Register of the Finnish Transport Safety Agency and are produced by Statistics Finland. The numbers are exclusive of the vehicles on the Åland Islands.
 
The most common passenger car makes first registered in January 2014 were Toyota, Volkswagen and Skoda. The most common passenger car models were Skoda Octavia, Volkswagen Golf, Toyota Auris, BMW 3 series and Audi A3.
