France's consumer prices index (CPI) registered a month-on-month rise of 0.6 percent in February, French national statistics bureau Insee said Thursday.

"The rebound of the CPI in February came, mainly, from the end of winter sale and its impact on clothing and footwear prices, and in a lesser manner, on manufactured product prices," Insee said in its monthly report.

Costs of manufactured goods rose by 1.3 percent compared with January, with clothing and shoes prices jumped by 6.2 percent over the period, mostly following the end of seasonal sales.

Last month, service prices, including transportation and tourism, rose by 0.4 percent due to "changes in some service prices linked with winter holidays."

After reporting a 0.8 percent growth in January, energy prices were almost unchanged in February due to stable costs of petroleum products, while a drop in fresh foods prices prompted a slight decrease in the country's food costs, the report's data showed.

On a yearly basis, the country's prices index rose by 0.9 percent.
