The turnover of construction enterprises has experienced a decrease by 1.5% during the October-December period from the corresponding period of the year before. 
 
According to the Statistics Finland, the turnover of specialised construction activities and building construction contracted by 2.2% and 1.4% respectively during the period. The turnover of civil engineering, however, grew by 0.2%.
 
The sales volume of construction enterprises was 2.3% down year-on-year in the last quarter of 2013. The sales volume of specialised construction activities decreased by 2.9%. In building construction, the sales volume contracted by 2.1% and in civil engineering by 0.4%.
 
The volume index of enterprises' sales is calculated by removing the effect of price changes from the turnover index series.
 
During 2013, the turnover of construction enterprises went down by 1.9% from the year before. The development was weakest in building construction, where turnover declined by 3.7% last year.
 
Examined by quarter, the turnover of the whole construction sector decreased except for the third quarter. Turnover in the third quarter was nearly 1.7% higher than one year ago. The growth then came from the industries of civil engineering and specialised construction activities.
