Norwegian Airlines has signed permanent contracts with its Helsinki-based pilots.

The new contracts will be effective from the beginning of this month.

Norwegian Airlines has more than 60 pilots in its Helsinki base with the majority of them coming from other Nordic countries.

In the past, the airlines company hired the pilots through a foreign company.

According to the Norwegian Airlines, about 50 pilots are tied to the permanent contracts.

The wages and employment conditions for the pilots under the new collective bargaining agreement will more or less the same.

The agreement is valid until the end of March 2016.

Most pilots of the airline at the Helsinki base are members of the Norwegian Air Shuttle Pilots’ Association-NASPA.

Anu Aspiala, head of Collective Bargaining at Yksityisalojen Esimiehet ja Asiantuntijat YTY ry, an association for managers and professionals, welcomed the news of the agreement.
