Lingonberry is expected to be ready for picking in the next two weeks in the south and central parts of the country, said the Finnish Forest Research Institute-Metla.

The berry should be ready in the second half of September in Kainuu, North Ostrobothnia and Lapland.

Countrywide, the yield will vary in between average and abundant.

In very dry areas, the berries are usually desiccated and remain small. The cold June spell inhibited flowering and pollination.

The mushroom season will begin late this year. In addition to warm and dry summer, the delay can also be connected to lack of snow during the past winter.
