A 6-year-old girl who went missing from Teuva area in Ostrobothnia on Friday was found on Saturday.

The police said the girl had been missing since 9.00 pm Friday from her grandparents’ home in the area.

She was found asleep in a ditch at Ruostetniementie of Horonkylä in Teuva about 2.5 kilometres away from the place of disappearance.

“The girl had apparently been walking along the road for several kilometres in her nightwear without shoes,” said Paul Latvanen, a senior official of the Ostrobothnia police.

The barefoot girl had abrasions on her feet and was very tired after the night out and she was taken back to her family after a medical examination on Saturday evening.

The Finnish Defence Forces executive department found the girl after an extensive search along with the police and about 300 volunteers.
