Dozens of foreign warships will sail into Turku’s Aura River and be visible to the public over the weekend as part of the navy’s multi-national crisis management exercise.

The ships will sail into the river on Friday. Some of the ships will be open to the public on Saturday at around 12-4 pm.

There are about 60 vessels of which 40 are foreign ships from 11 different countries. Nearly all the foreign ships will dock at the banks of the Aura.

Among the vessels a Swedish and a German submarine will join the exercise.

Prince Carl Philip of Sweden will also take part in the exercise aboard the HMS Carlskrona navy ship.

The Northern Coasts 2014 will be the Finnish Navy’s main exercise this year. Last time the exercise was arranged in the country was four years ago.
