A policeman acquitted of murder has demanded more than EUR 110,000 compensation from the state.
The matter came to light in a summon application at the Helsinki District Court.
The policeman was suspected to have drowned his girlfriend in the Rantasalmi in summer 2010.
The man in his 50’s was detained twice for several months.
The Eastern Finland District Court had sentenced the man for murder but the Supreme Court later dismissed the charge.
According to the Supreme Court, the event that led to the death remained unclear.
The man has demanded the compensation from the state because of the freedom he was denied, suffering that he endured, loss of earnings and bonuses.
According to the summon application, the man was innocently detained for more than 280 days, mostly in solitary confinement due to his police-work background.
