More than half of the Finns are confident that the Finnish society cares for those in need, according to a survey commissioned by the occupational pension operators.

About 51 per cent of the respondents believe that society takes care of children, the elderly, the sick and others who need assistance, whether physical or financial.

Women and men have about the same confidence that society cares. There was also no big discrepancy between age groups.

The same survey also examined the expectations of earnings-related pensions.

About 45 per cent of the respondents completely or partially agreed with the statement that the pension guarantees a decent living after retirement.

The survey was conducted through interviews by IRO Research in May. A total of 1,000 Finns participated in the survey.
