The Helsinki City Board on Monday approved the Crown Bridge (Kruunusilta) Project.
The board at a meeting took the decision by 13 votes to 2.
The bridge is planned to connect the future East Helsinki residential area, Kruunuvuorenranta, and finally the city centre of Helsinki.
One could cross the public transport connection comprised of three bridges by tram, bicycle or on foot.
The final decision on the construction of the bridge will be made by the City Council which will deal with the matter after a week.
