According to Essayah, Finland should support Austria which has previously called for the visa waiver negotiation to be cancelled.
The Christian Democrats had earlier opposed the visa waiver negotiations in spring.
Essayah brought the matter to the fore during the party’s national executive meeting on Saturday.
The relationship between EU and Turkey has been strained following the military coup attempt in Turkey.
Turkey has said if the visa-free travel is not allowed by autumn, the country will cease to implement the refugee agreement signed in spring.
The visa waiver requires the approval of the member countries and the European Parliament.
