Fri, 26 Jul, 2013 04:00:15 AM FTimes Report, July 26  Enterprise openings, 1st quarter of 2013. Source - Statistics Finland. The opening of new enterprises has decreased by 7.4 per cent in the first quarter of 2013 from the corresponding quarter of the year before, according to Statistics Finland.
In the fourth quarter of 2012, the number of enterprise closures was 17.5 per cent higher than in the corresponding quarter of the year before.
Examined by industry, opening of new enterprises were mostly in professional, scientific and technical areas while the number of enterprise closures was highest in trade, and examined by region both enterprise openings and closures were highest in Uusimaa.

According to preliminary data of the whole year, the number of opening of new enterprises decreased by 4.1 per cent and the number of enterprise closures increased by 3.6 per cent in 2012 compared to the previous year
According to Statistics Finland, as much as 9,211 new enterprises came into being in the first quarter of 2013 while the number was 9,946 in the first quarter of 2012 marking a decrease of 7.4 per cent.
Opening of enterprise accounted for 2.7 per cent of the total stock of enterprises in the first quarter of 2013.
