A total of 150 lawmakers endorsed the bill proposed by Markku Eestilä, to ensure that the taxes should also be returned to private importers for the period 2002-2005.
The exclusion (VAT for imported cars and motorcycles) was made in 2006 while Recovery Act was enacted by previous parliament in 2009.
Based on this exclusivity, the administrative refund obligation period can be limited to three years which is the change period for the Car Tax Act.
According to Eestilä, the preliminary ruling by the Supreme Court last July changed the situation substantially.
In 2003, the state was ordered to compensate (importers) on the illegally collected value added taxes on imported cars.
