The recent storm Lyyli which struck on Saturday caused damages of approximately a million euros to forest owners mainly in Northern Ostrobothnia, Kainuu, Central Finland and Upper Savonia, according to the estimates of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
According to the Forest Centre’s preliminary estimates, 140,000 cubic metres of trees worth around five million euros were downed by the storm.
Some of the fallen trees can be harvested as pulp wood which will substantially cut the losses incurred by the forest owners.
