The Ministry of Transport and Communications has formed a committee to investigate the future funding of commercial television news.
Member of Parliament Harry “Hjallis” Harkimo has been appointed as the chair of the working group.
The other members of the group are government professional management consultant Anu Nissinen, lawmaker Eero Heinäluoma, and Finnish Broadcasting Corporation former director general Arne Wessberg.
The parliamentary committee which examined the role of national broadcaster Yle in June pointed out that it was important that commercial television operations should be under daily production of news.
The working group proposed that the government should consider setting up a separate working group.
The working group under Harkimo will expire at the end of 2016.
