Police arrested 10 anarchist protesters on Thursday, when the traditional May Day march started in the Finnish capital Helsinki, Finnish national broadcaster YLE reported.
Around 100 anarchists gathered at the central railway station in downtown Helsinki, where the traditional May Day rally was launched at about 11 a.m. local time.
The masked anarchists intended to protest against capitalism. Some of anarchists held sticks with sharp ends as weapons, which were disguised as flags. Ten anarchists were arrested, said the report.
The rest of anarchists were allowed to walk at the end of the procession and continued the parade under police control.
As reported, police knew about the anarchist demonstration in advance, and took action before they posed a possible threat to the public.
