Prime Minister Alexander Stubb has denied claims that there was a difference within the country's leaderships over a joint air exercise with the US in Estonia.
During the interview in the Prime Minister's hour with national broadcaster YLE on Sunday, Stubb said the matter was discussed in the Foreign and Security Policy Committee and its benefits were deliberated as done on the part of all exercises.
"I would not go to over-dramatise this. It is clear that in the committee we discussed different issues and its benefits deliberated," said Stubb.
Stubb also said there was no actual proposal tabled, adding that that matter will be deliberated upon in the near future.
According to Finnish language daily Helsingin Sanomat, President Sauli Niinistö and Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja are apparently opposed to the issue while the Prime Minister and Defence Minister Carl Haglund are in favour of taking part in the exercise.
The Premier also said that the issue was not about relationship with NATO.
