Fri, 14 Aug, 2015 12:01:21 AM FTimes – STT Report, Aug 14 The head of the security police-Supo, Antti Pelttari does not consider political extremism a threat to the country’s security.
The assessment will continue on a daily basis, Pelttari told the Keskisuomalainen, a regional Finnish language daily. According to Pelttari, extremist ideology has worrying features such as subverting organisation of a democratic society or xenophobia.
There is, however, no indication of increase in the number of active members of the organisations. “For example, the Finnish Resistance Movement has a dozen active members. In addition, there is a group of persons who sympathise with the movement’s ideology or are involved randomly in their activities,” Pelttari told the newspaper.
