The military conscript draft began on Monday. This year, the call up almost exclusively applies to those born in 1998, which is a total of more than 30,000 men.
The eligibility of those called up is determined afterwards. All male Finnish citizens who are, this year, aged over 18 years are to be conscripted.
In addition, conscription affects all those aged between 19 to 29 years of age, who have not yet completed their call to duty, and those who have been ordered for re-examination or have previ-ously failed to appear for call up.
