The number of new passenger cars registered in July 2014 was 8,016, which was 5.2 per cent down from the year before. 
 
During the time, a total of 13,467 new motor vehicles were registered, of which 8,992 were automobiles, according to the Statistics Finland. 
 
First registrations decreased by 7.0 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year. 
 
The share of new diesel-driven passenger cars was 38.4 per cent, said the data based on the Vehicular and Driver Data Register of the Finnish Transport Safety Agency.
 
The numbers are exclusive of the vehicles on the Åland Islands.
 
In the January-to-July period of 2014, a total of 110,191 vehicles were first registered. Compared to the year before, there was an increase of 0.6 per cent. 
 
The number of passenger cars first registered in the January-to-July period was 67,159, which is 3.3 per cent up from the year before. 
 
The most common passenger car makes first registered in the period were Volkswagen, Toyota and Skoda, the data show.
