Finnish export to Russia fell significantly in August, according to statistics from the Finnish Customs.

Export bans and sanctions imposed following the Ukraine crisis, above all else, contributed to a slump in Finnish food export. The decline in food export to Russia was nearly 60 per cent from last year.

In all, export to Russia fell by more than a fifth from the corresponding period in last year.

The country’s total export shrank by six per cent in July compared to the same period last year.

Export to EU countries plummeted by three per cent in August and outside the EU the export dropped by 10 per cent.
