Producer prices for manufactured products fell by an average of 0.6 per cent in May 2015 from the corresponding period of the year before, according to Statistics Finland.
The producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market went down by 1.2 per cent, while the producer prices of export products went up by 0.2 per cent.
Producer prices for manufactured products went down especially due to reductions in the prices of oil products, food, and iron and steel from last year's May.
The fall in producer prices was slowed down especially by higher prices of paper and paper board products.
The Export Price Index rose by 0.3 per cent and the Import Price Index fell by 4.1 per cent in the year. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply went down by 2.0 per cent, and with taxes it fell by 1.7 per cent, the data show.
Export prices were, in particular, boosted by the higher prices of paper and paper board products, and basic precious metals and other non-ferrous metals from May 2014.
The rising of the prices was curbed above all by falls in the prices of oil products.
The fall in import prices was, in turn, especially caused by lower prices of oil products compared with last year's May.
The fall in prices was slowed down, in particular, by higher prices of electronic appliances.
Producer prices for manufactured products remained unchanged on the average from April to May.
