According to Mika Koskinen, Valio’s head of Eastern Markets, sale of low-fat Oltermanni cheese will take the longest time to sell as their maturation takes two months.
Packaged products intended for the Russian market have been on sale in Finnish stores following the Russian embargo on food products from the West.
The Finnish dairy company Valio has since suspended processing dairy products to be sold in Russia and now sells its stock to Finnish retailers.
Normal cheese products designated for Russia are likely to be on sale for about a month while stocks of fresh products such as milk and yoghurt have already been sold to the stores and have already run out, said Koskinen.
Finnish retail giants Kesko and S-Group attest that there has been a rush for the products intended for Russia.
“The products are pretty much the same as those intended for the Finnish market with the price coming considerably cheaper,” said Harri Turunen from Kesko.
