The preliminary investigation conducted by the Finnish police and customs showed that nearly 300 kg hashish, 28 kg cocaine and 2 kg ecstasy were allegedly smuggled to Finland from the Netherlands and Spain during the period 2007-2015. The street value of the drugs amounted to more than 5 million euros. The international drug ring consisted of two British men, several Finns and one Spanish citizen. The case was unearthed when police searched a cottage in Nurmijärvi, southern Finland, after the two Brits traveled from Sweden to Finland and arrived at the cottage in December 2015. Police arrested the two Brits and three Finnish suspects and seized 2 kgs cocaine and 8 kgs hashish, as well as 31,160 euros cash from the cottage. The Spanish national had been caught in Spain on the basis of a European arrest warrant, according to Finnish Customs. More News
