About EUR 30 million worth of damages were caused by the autumn storm Eino, which blew over different parts of the country on November 17, according to a financial estimate based on the initial assessment of the insurance companies.

The losses of property were, however, lower compared to the damages in the Tapani and Hannu-storms in 2011, said sources.

The insurance companies had to count EUR 102.5 million after the storms in 2011.

The Eino blew over the country on November 17, damaging a number of establishments by uprooting trees and electric poles and causing power supply to be disconnected at more than 200,000 houses.

The storm badly affected the Rantasalmi area in South Savo where the wind blew with the speed of 29.2 metres per second, said the Finnish Meteorological Institute.
